Aren’t y’all tired of this whole networking culture in Denmark?
Job hunting in Denmark is exhausting enough. Networking doesn’t need to become a performance built around forced coffee meetings and transactional messages.

I definitely am.
I mean, at least of the way some people perceive it.
A while ago, I hosted an online AMA, an Ask Me Anything session, and something became even clearer to me:
Job seekers are tired and confused af.
Career coaches say one thing.
Their friends and family say something else.
The market… well, it doesn’t even speak to them.
“They told me to network, coffee meeting this and that. But how the heck do I actually do it?”
In the end, it becomes an exhausting game about performing and pretending.
But it shouldn’t be like that.
Looking for a job in Denmark? Hear me out
Networking is not a transaction.
Connections are not numbers.
Messages are not pitch slaps.
Networking comes from genuine curiosity.
From respecting and valuing others.
From understanding the power of community.
Meaningful relationships take some time to grow 🌳
“Okay, but I’d rather spend my time trying to find a job than making small talk.”
I totally get it.
So at least accept one piece of advice:
Stop asking recruiters for coffee meetings and go talk to people in your field instead
Designers. Engineers. Marketers. Product people. Finance people.
Find someone who understands your world. Someone you actually have something real to share with.
I’ll tell you, that’s one of the best ways to play the networking game over here.
Whether you like it or not.
Because if you approach networking thinking only:
“What can this person do to help me get a job?”
…you’ve already started on the wrong foot.
But if you think:
“This person works in an area I’m interested in. We have something in common. Maybe it’d actually be nice to talk.”
That changes the whole conversation.
And yes, you’re still job hunting. You still have a professional goal. Nobody is pretending we’re all at summer camp.
The difference is not treating every person you meet as another step in your application funnel.
Your mission for today
Think about someone you’d genuinely like to grab a coffee or a beer with.
Someone in the same area as you, or in a completely different one, but who makes you think: “damn, this person seems badass”.
If you don’t remember at least two names while reading this, I’ll change my name to Paris Hilton 💃🏽
